Traditional Funeral Service with Burial
A traditional funeral service followed by a burial is typically held in our chapel or at a church chosen by the family. Our chapel can comfortably seat up to 250 guests. Although every family is different concerning their religious beliefs, the service is usually officiated by a member of the family’s religious community. Use of the term “funeral service” indicates that the decedent will be present during the service, in a casket at the front of the church, chapel, temple or mosque. Depending on circumstances and wishes of the family, the casket can either be open or closed during the service. Prior to the day of the service, usually the day before or evening before, depending on the religious denomination of the deceased, a visitation and/or religious service is held for the deceased. If the family is having a visitation, it is usually optional whether or not a member of the family’s religious community will be present. Generally, upon the conclusion of a traditional funeral service, the family and guests form a procession with their vehicles, lead by the hearse and motor escorts, which proceeds to the cemetery. In the interest of the safety of the family, guests and our staff, we require at least two motor escorts to oversee the procession.
Some of the major decisions that the family must make with respect to a traditional funeral service with burial are the time, date and location of the service, person to officiate the service, content of the service, casket type, cemetery location, burial location and number of escorts needed to oversee the funeral procession. Additionally, we offer personalization of prayer cards and traditional memorial folders that allow our families to express and celebrate the unique style of their loved one. Our staff is skilled in coordinating with families to create video memorial tributes featuring up to 30 pictures. Video memorial tributes are created and shown during the service at no additional cost to the family if the traditional funeral service package is selected.

At the conclusion of the funeral service, the deceased is transferred to our crematory. Depending on the religious or cultural preferences of the deceased, the cremation can be done with or without family members present.

Graveside Service
Some of our families opt to simply have a graveside service at the grave or crypt where their loved one will be laid to rest or placed. They choose a graveside service in lieu of a larger service at a chapel, church, temple or mosque. Family and friends are usually present at this type of service. Typically this type of service is officiated by a member of family’s religious community. Logistically, this type of service is much less complex than a traditional funeral service with burial because the service and burial are combined into one service, eliminating the need for an alternate service location and a procession to the cemetery.
Some of the major decisions that the family must make with respect to a graveside service are the time and date of the service, person to officiate the service, casket type, cemetery location and burial location within the cemetery. Another major consideration that the family must keep in mind is the weather. Depending on the season, the family may want us to arrange for a tent or shelter if the service location is outdoors. Generally the family will work with the cemetery to determine the necessary guest seating.

Direct Burial
A direct burial is much less complex than a traditional funeral service followed by a burial as it includes no visitation or funeral service. Once the deceased has been taken into our care, they are placed in refrigeration until the necessary permits are issued by the appropriate health department. Our staff coordinates directly with cemetery personnel concerning the burial date and time. Neither family nor friends are present for the burial. The family is contacted after their loved one has been laid to rest so that they know it has taken place. Some of the major decisions that the family must make with respect to a direct burial are casket type, cemetery location and burial location.

Direct Cremation
A direct cremation is selected when no visitation or service is desired. Once we are notified of the death, we will actively arrange to transport the decedent into our care. Depending on the location of the deceased, we may need to meet with the family prior to picking up the decedent. Once the decedent is brought into our care, they are placed in refrigeration until the death certificate is completed and permits allowing us to proceed with the cremation have been issued. The deceased is cremated at our on-site crematory in a minimum cardboard container with no witnesses present. The family can arrange for the placement of the cremated remains in an urn of their choice or the plastic utility urn included in the direct cremation package.
Concerning the final disposition of the cremated remains, families can take them to their residence, scatter them at sea or take them to a local cemetery for burial or inurnment. Regardless of the final disposition location, we work with families to make sure that their wishes are followed.
